Before buying the hair for your weave, it’s important to know the difference in types of hair extensions. Both human and synthetic hair can vary immensely in quality, so be sure you are buying one that you will be happy with long-term.
Types of human hair extensions
Turned (Remi/Remy) hair- This type of hair is very popular because the cuticles of the hair all face the same way, resulting in less tangling. The root of each strand of hair is sewn into the base of the track (a weft of fabric that is sewn to braids for a sew-in weave), ensuring that the cuticles all point down for a smoother result.
Fallen hair– Fallen hair has fallen from the donor’s head and is then gathered from a hairbrush, which means the cuticles of the strands will point different directions, increasing the risk of tangles.
Remi refined hair- Less expensive than Remi hair, refined Remi hair has had part of the cuticle removed, making it less likely to tangle.
